Insurance Claims Process

First, call Bowman’s Auto Service to arrange towing from the scene if needed at (606) 836-0837.

Next, notify your insurance company to report your accident and receive your claim number. Ask if you have rental car coverage and if you do, set up the claim to include your rental car.

Then, drop off your car at Bowman’s Auto Service, sign the appropriate paperwork and release form. You can pick up your rental car at the same time as we have our own rental fleet for your convenience. We will bill your insurance company directly (as long as you set it up ahead of time).

After these simple steps, we will repair your car to pre-accident condition and clean it inside and out for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: HOW FREQUENTLY DOES MY CAR HAVE TO BE SERVICED?

A: The rule of thumb is every 3,000-5,000 miles. Most manufacturers are moving to a 5,000 mile scale due to better engine construction and better oil on the market. Larger tune-up style maintenance usually happens every 15,000 miles.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF MY TIMING BELT BREAKS WHILE I AM DRIVING?

A: Depending on the make and model of your car, the engine could either simply stall. Other engines that are the “interference” style will become damaged internally and require more major repairs. It is always recommended to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for replacement, usually around 60,000 or 90,000 miles.

Q: WHAT STEPS DO I TAKE IF I HAVE A COLLISION AND NEED TO HAVE BODY REPAIRS DONE?

A: You should either contact your insurance company to set up a claim, or call us at 606-836-0837 if you decide against making a claim. We will then arrange an appointment for you and set up a rental if needed. If your car needs to be towed to us, we will arrange for the pick up and payment to be billed later to insurance. Once your car arrives at the shop, we will handle all necessary correspondence and paperwork with the insurance company. We will repair and clean your car and return it in a timely manner.

Q: WHEN DO I ROTATE MY TIRES AND HAVE AN ALIGNMENT?

A: Tire rotation should be done every 5,000-7,500 miles. Most people now rotate their tires together with an oil change every 5,000 miles. Alignments are recommended annually, as local road conditions usually contribute to misalignment.

Q: IF MY BRAKES ARE SQUEAKING, DOES IT MEAN THAT I NEED A BRAKE JOB?

A: Not necessarily. Brakes can give you warning signs such as noise or vibration when they are ready for replacement, but there are times when weather can influence how they sound. Ask for the brakes to be visually inspected at service visits to make sure they are doing okay.
